Day Star Yoga

Day Star Yoga

"Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the evening." Genesis 24:63

"I meditate on your precepts, and consider your ways." Psalms 119:15

Yoga literally means union, a yoking. Yoga was developed as a systematic way to get closer to God and to seek to alleviate suffering caused by clinging to this material world and helping the individual to balance body and mind, thus feeling more spiritually connected to God. Though developed by a Hindu, yoga is not a religion; it is a way to develop our relationship to others and to God.

There is a path taken to get there.  It is called the eightfold path in yoga:

1.                  Things not to do , similar to the Ten Commandments

2.                  Right living

3.                  Asanas, poses, for a healthy body

(1Corinthians 6:20 “Therefore honor God with your body.")

4.                  Breath awareness

(Genesis 1:7 “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground

and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living.")

5.                  Stilling the mind by not being attached to our 5 senses

(Colossians 3:2 "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.")

6.                  Concentration

(Hebrews 12:2-3 "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter

                      of our faith.")

7.                  Meditation

(The bible taught us in many verses to meditate)

8.                  Feeling the presence of God

In the classes you learn about the eight-fold path as a way to feel your relationship

with God/Jesus/Holy Spirit.

"Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."

            Luke 17:20-21

Learn to quiet the mind and seek God

How would you like to learn to stretch, quiet your mind, and take deep breathes as you let go of the days tension? This yoga class is different from others. We will be doing asanas, but with the intention of focusing on that deeper part of us that connects with God. Whether you're focusing on the love and joy that God brings into your life or feeling you need some comfort, doing Christian Yoga is about finding that connection. No experience necessary!! This class is open to all who have never had yoga or to those with experience. In this world so focused on what is outside of us, it will be a wonderful gift to yourself as you tune into the inner world which connects us to that spiritual realm where we feel love for ourselves, each other and our Creator. Please come join me.
